Freaking LSAT

Maintaining two blogs is seriously kinda tricky. I know this blog has been kinda neglected and I really apologize for my other "imaginary" readers who still drop by occasionally in hope of finding something interesting to read. I'll try to blog more interesting posts from now on. I swear! =P

Wah.. I just woke up 10 minutes ago. I forgot where I read it but it seems that one's brain is kinda non-functional and dead for the first 2 hours of waking up. No wonder my brain seems to have a hard time writing this. Can you imagine waking up 5 minutes before class starts at 8:30am? Though come to think of it, the whole adrenaline rush of finding out you have 5 minutes to brush your teeth, change, find your books and run all the way to class is the best way to jot up your brain don't you think? You might even be able to have a meaningful discussion with President Obama because you woke up late. o.O

Or not. Haha..

I recently signed up for LSATs. Sigh. Yeah.. if you're not in this law school craze, the LSATs might just be some random alphabets strewn together. But this, ladies and gentlemen, is the key to a whole new career in law. Thus, the "sighing" from me.

Wonderful score and you'll get to top notch law schools like Yale, or Harvard, and even full scholarships from the not-so-top-schools. Low scores and you'll receive rejection after rejection and if you're lucky, graduate with a huge debt from some lower tier law schools (according to the US News Report on law schools). Seriously, there's a whole different world out there in this law school admissions business. I have been obsessed over it pass few months. Reading blogs after blogs from admissions officers, LSATs advice and law schools websites. Everything but study for the LSATs.

Great. Just GREAT don't you think?

I have been putting off signing up for the LSATs for so long that the only test center that is available for me now is an hour away from my college. =.=

I mean, how do you decide? I'm graduating next year and I need to make the decision what I should do for the rest of my life!

Hate crossroads!

But whatever.. I have made the decision to sign up. I have even already paid! $136 for that *cough* freaking test. And everything I have read has told me against using ONE month to prepare for the LSATs. Great. Just great.

Well.. too late for that. I just have to make go with what I have.

Now, all I need to do is study. >.<

I need to excel in this! I need toooo!!!! Wahhh....

SPRING BREAK!!!

Note: Before you read this, please do the survey at the side of my blog. I need ur help to decide! =)

Ok.. cool down. Its only Tuesday. I still have another 3 more days to go before I HAVE ONE WHOLE WEEK OF HOLIDAYS!!! Wooohooo...

Ok.. cool down I said. Aren't u listening? You still have tons of work to do Princess Shin. =.=

You know someone is going crazy when they start talking to themselves on their blog. Although come to think of it, doesn't everyone talk to themselves when they're writing? Hmm.. Another topic of discussion altogether.

ANYWAYS, spring break is here. And after that, its gonna be only 2 more months before I'm back!!! Wooohoo.. And I'm gonna pester Cody every single day till he can't wait to send me back to US again. As though he's not already bored with me. Whatever..

I seem to be getting off the topic a lot today. AS I WAS SAYING, me and the girls are still planning on what to do for our spring break. I kinda want to go to the Grand Canyon but my sweet goody-two-shoes girlfriends are kinda reluctant to take such a long road trip by ourselves. Yeah.. I have sad friends..

Another alternative is to go have Vegas vacations. But we kinda agreed that we'll wait till everyone turns 21 before we make a trip there because it'll be more fun when everyone is legal to get into clubs. Again, I have young sad friends.

So any idea what I should do besides staying in my room the whole week not reading?

Temperature problems..

Some of my imaginary readers would remember when I complained about my roommate not allowing me to on the heater last year during winter and letting me freeze to death every single night. Do u remember that? It was like a tug of war between the both of us. I would on the heater and the next minute I know, it would be off. I was not really sure what was the reason, but it was either that she was from New York and she loves the cold, or that she was being a environmentalist fanatic and wanted to conserve the environment by not turning the heater on.

This year, I'm happy to say that my roommate is one of my good friends and she loves the heat. So much so that I'm actually suffocating in my own room because of her needs. =.= I think this is karma. What else can it be? Haha.. Seriously though.. she's super hot blooded, or I'm super cold blooded. She's always freezing and I feel super bad but have you been in a room with the heater blasting super hot air out? It dries up ur eyes and makes it hard for u to breathe! I'm serious!!!

I can totally hear u say, now u know how my previous roommate felt! =.= I actually have a humidifier (not a dehumidifier) in my room to combat the intense heat in my room. And I gave her a small portable heater to make her feel warmer too. Ahh.. Its so much of a trouble living with someone. Haha.. Though I still love her all the same.. =)

HOME!!!

Ahhh.... I shouldn't be doing this coz its gonna make it even tougher for me but I have 81 days till I'm home!!! WOOOHOO!O!!!!

I can't wait!!! Wahaha.. I just bought the ticket back home yesterday and you know what? Its super super cheap!!! I don't know what's with Malaysian airlines now but the tickets are really really cheap. I bought my ticket for USD450 one way compared to USD 1200 last year for both ways. That makes it about USD 600 one way!!!

The dollar is getting stronger nowadays I know.. Gone are the days when it was USD1.oo to RM3.1. Those were good times. Now its around 3.7!!! Even gas prices have gone up! It was about USD 1.7 last December and now its close to USD 2.50!!! =(

I knew the good times were not gonna last long!!!

But I'm going back soon!!! Yippee!!! I can't wait! Hehe..

Malaysia.. here I come!!!

Though right now I have to concentrate on my readings.. =(

San Francisco Here I come..

Up I go again, to the land of the Golden Gate Bridge. The only difference this time is that I'm going there for a swim meet, and not for fun.

I'm going to miss so many stuff this weekend though. My roommate is turning 21 this Sunday. There's a bunch of school events including the annual Student Festival. We can't have everything.

Can you imagine Princess Shin going somewhere to attend a swim meet?

Wahhahaa.. never in a thousand years would I have imagine that I can call myself an athlete.

Though I'm super afraid of swimming the 50 back and doing relays. Coach is putting me into the relays for the first time because there's only 12 girls and we need 4 girls for a team.

As usual I'm gonna be the last again.

Sigh.. But its the experience that matter rights? =)

Where did my swimming pool go?

Ahhh... my university's pool has no water inside!!! How am I going to swim??? Ahhhh... Help!!!!

Its been like that since I came back in September. Something to do with piping system.. Not sure what's the problem. But main thing is, its summer and I can't f*cking swim!!!

Boohooo...

And you know what the swim team is doing now? Instead of starting our practices at 7am in our own pool, we have to now meet at 6am to drive down to a nearby high school to use their pool!!!

Less one hour of beauty sleep is really important!!!

Argh!!! I can't wait for our pool to be fixed! No more disgusting gums stuck on the walls of the pool, hair floating around and weird bread on the floor of the pool.

High school students are disgusting. >.< No offense.

My coach told us he predicts it will be done by next week. Hopefully sooo!!!

My professor's love story

We were talking in class today about how different genre's of movies affect our lives.

Comedy in the sense that it is a natural procession of life, hero faces obstacles, hero grows from it, and hero marries the girl of his dreams and have lots of children. If you notice, all comedy ends in marriage.

Did u notice that?

Melodrama are basically stereotype lives and full of cliches. It is always predictable. How many times have u watched a drama and guessed correctly what was going to happen next? I know I did. Then why do we continue watching it? Its because we want to be assured that we are not alone in this world, that the problems that we face are also faced by people everywhere!!!

What about farce? Farce essentially blows things out of proportion. It mocks life, do the opposite of what is supposedly demanded from society and make it excessive.

Its breaks nature.

And you know what example my professor gave to show what is an example of farce? He told us that it is his wife birthday today and she doesn't want anyone to know her age because she feels sad that she is no longer as pretty and youthful as she was in her 20's, 30's, 40's and even 50's. Yup, I'm guessing she's around her 60's. She doesn't want anything to do with her birthday.

And do you know what he does?

He celebrates her birthday all the same, not for one day, but for A WEEK!!!! He gives her present every single day for the week to make her happy and feel good about it.

And he has done if for many years already.

He say he will do it no other way. Coz this makes her feel good. At least she is here or else he would be left all alone.

What is the alternative of growing old?

Dying.

You have to be alive to grow old.

How romantic is that?

Sigh.. I want to have this kinda husband too.. *hint*

Fall is slowly approaching..

The weather over here is slowly changing again... The nice hot warm sunny weather is slowly changing to chilly winds..

No more tank tops, skirts, shorts, spaghetti straps, tubes.. beaches..

Instead, all we have are jeans, long sleeves shirts and sweaters that we wear over and over again.

And of course no more beaches and sitting outside having lunch or reading a book..

I hate that we go to school during winter and not summer.

WHY?

My view from my second floor room! =)

I hate packing!!!

Oh my god... packing is absolutely terrible! Its totally amazing how many things I have accumulated in just one short year. I was totally panicking just sitting in the middle of all my mess thinking of how to start putting all my stuff into storage. The amount of clothes that I have bought is so many that I totally shocked myself!!! Argh!!! I sooo need to go into therapy to curb my excessive shopping!!!

What's worst!!! I miss my room!!! My 4th floor overlooking the canyon room!!! Next year I'm gonna move to the second floor with absolutely no view whatsoever. Boohoo.. I miss my room already..

Yeah red stuff! =)

Mi cuartro!

Argh.. Messy!

Charmaine helping me clean up! ^.^

Boxes and boxes of stuff!

We had to clean the room before we left. That means cleaning the bathroom and vacuuming the room. It was kinda sad that only after I left was my room spotless clean. Luckily one of my classmates lent had one of those cool Sebo vacuums. My room was unrecognizable after that. I came to my room in this condition 8 months ago and now 8 months have left.

Original empty lifeless room!

Time passed sooo fast.. Bye bye my lovely room.

Roommate problems!

I am facing so much problems with my roommate recently that it is giving me headache every single day. I really don't know what to do about it. Since I'm from Malaysia, I'm always feeling cold around here even though people say California is never cold. Therefore, I on the heater every single day. But you know what my roommate loves to do? She'll turn off the heater when I'm in the room and when I get up in the morning, I'll freeze to death.

Is it because she's hot? No... She claims to want to save energy!!!!

Argh!!! I have the privilege to have a heater and I want to make full use of it!!!! She can stay outside the dorms and save as much energy as she wants but dont make me freeze to death because of her sudden interest in saving global warming!

Its so frustrating I tell you. She knows I hate the cold but she still does it. What should I do?

Did u know what I wanted to do when I found out she turned off my heater and the room was around 15 degrees Celsius?

I wanted to on the A.C and make it under 0 Celsius! That'll make her feel what is real cold.

But of course I din do it. But I wanted too!!! Boohoo... I'm bad!

I don't wanna get my own heater because then I'll have to spend money to buy one.

Ah.. people keep saying communication communication. But how do u want me to communicate with her?

Ah... Green planet should recruit her! >.<

What is in your room?

Having my own room in campus is really the best thing I can ever hoped for! There are two kinds of room in campus. One is a double room where there are 2 beds and is shared by 2 students and the other one is a suite where there is another 2 smaller rooms in one big room sharing a common bathroom! Yup! Did I mention each room has their separate bathroom? The students here are spoiled rotten I tell you!

Now that I have my own room, though we do have the normal furnitures like desk, bed frame and closet, I still feel the need to buy my own furnitures to decorate my room. I certainly went and checked out Bush furniture to see if there are any interesting good there!

Don't you feel your room reflects your personality? Whether it is dark and gloomy, bright and pinky, messy, neat, it all tells people what kind of person you are.

FYI, my room is pink, neat and bright! =)

Princess Shin is tired..

Princess Shin is tired of waking up at 6:30am on Mondays Wednesdays, and Fridays to join the swim team for practice even though its only her first time doing it last Wednesday. She's terrible at it and is the slowest of all in the whole team but still wants to stay in it to feel how its like being on a team.

Princess Shin is tired of weighing herself everyday in fear of gaining weight! =(

Princess Shin is tired of missing Malaysian's Food!!! >.<

Princess Shin is tired of having one and a half hours before the next class starts thinking whether to take a nap or not and by the time she wants to take a nap, its time to go for class.

Princess Shin is tired of going to classes everyday though she loves her classes because its so interesting but there are just so much homework!!!

Princess Shin is tired of not having a car and is stuck in campus everyday though she absolutely adores her campus.

Princess Shin is tired of having her laptop as the main source of distraction though that's the only thing that has nothing to do with school work. Other than Microsoft Word, and Google. Boohoo..

Princess Shin is tired of being so busy all day long with classes, clubs, classes, clubs, organizations.. =(

Princess Shin is tired coz she's not feeling well and wants to sleep! >.< And class is starting in 30 minutes!

Celebrating Independance Day alone!

Hmm.. living in US for around a month now has really made me appreciate Malaysia more. Its undeniable that the standard of living here is much higher and the shopping here is absolutely fantastic, but one still misses home. Even though it may not be as good.

I celebrated Malaysia's National Day alone here. I was the only Malaysian in the whole university so there wasn't anyone for me to go 'Merdeka!' with. It's funny though. I never really fully appreciated or felt the need to go out and celebrate, but when you're the only one, it's kinda different. I felt that I had the responsibility to tell everyone that 31st of August 2007 was Malaysia's National Day and we're celebrating our 50th Anniversary.

I didn't do any elaborate party and cook curry chicken for everyone. Though I wanted too but had no idea how. I just went on and wore my baju kurung (Tradisional Malay outfit) to class that day. It was kinda weird though, everyone wearing jeans, acting all trendy and fashionable and there I was wearing this long dress covering me from head to toe. But I was happy. And everyone came over to me and ask what was I wearing. And there stood my chance to tell them that it's Malaysia's Birthday!!!

Good way to promote right? Hehe..

It was funny though. That was the only baju kurung I had. And I had to buy it because I was forced to wear it during my orientation when I attended a local university. I hated wearing it because it was so hot. But now.. I'm wearing it voluntarily. Super ironic!

Though it was a small gesture. But I was happy that I did my part as a Malaysian. =)

Malaysia Boleh!

College Life

I always thought that even after I started my college life, I would still be able to continue blogging. But boy oh boy.. it's really not easy trying to even squeeze a minute or two for blogging time. I mean.. it's not that I'm super busy and all but time just flies when I'm here.

It's been almost 3 weeks since I got here. And everything has been absolutely great. Other than having a C+ for my first college essay, I'm all right.

Boohoo.. Let's not talk about my poor written essay. As I am talking now.. I have another essay due on Monday and the topic is 'What is Justice?". Anyone can help me in that?

It is certainly a new experience here! Malaysia is gonna celebrate it's 50th anniversary soon and I'm so bumped to not be able to attend it. People say that you'll grow to love your country more once you're out of it and seriously.. I can't agree more. Though the food in my current university is absolutely great.. but I do miss my Chao Kuew Tiao once is a while.

Did I tell you that the food here is awesome? Seriously!!! I have rice every single day! Haha.. I'm so gonna gain my freshman 15 weight! Help me people!!! =(

Thanks for guys if you still pop in occasionally. I know it's terrible when you come in and find that there are no updates. But I'll promise I wont stop ya. I'll try and make it once a week! Hehe..

On another note, one of the upperclassman that I knew recently brought me to a Japanese supermarket. And the first thing that came in my mind was to buy Milo!!!! Do you know that you can never ever find Milo anywhere? Target.. Wallmart.. it's like people here don't drink anything other than coffee and tea. It's terrible I tell you!

Nope.. it's not the one above! It's the price below!!!
That's like RM25! Crazy!!!

Guess how much it is! >.< Yup!!! 7 USD!!! Crazy anot! And look how small it is! But I was glad I went there though. It is really a comfortable feeling when you're surrounded by Asian stuff even though its all from Japan! Better than nothing la!

Soup! I think..

Maggi Mee!!!
I wish.. =(

You can't imagine how much I miss my Maggi Goreng!

THis is kinda fair price though. Back in Malaysia it is super expensive!
I bought one of each to snack on! Wahaha..

They have this in Malaysia toO! My mum's favorite chocolates!

There was something weird about this place though. You actually have to be a member to buy stuff from this supermarket! You have to pay like 10USD a year to sign up for their membership. If not you just pay a dollar a day. Weird right?

Later only I found out that the reason they do this is because the stuff here is cheaper compared to outside. (What? My Milo is cheaP?) And they don't add tax after everything! (Yup! Everything here is tax!) Which after thinking about it a dollar is kinda fair!

But imagine having to pay to start buying stuff from a shop!!!

And you know what is the saddest part? They don't have the pads that I want! >.< I'm sorry if I'm gonna gross you guys out but I'm totally saddened by this situation that I'm in! I always use Whisper and can you imagine that they don't have this brand anywhere in the States? Its either Whisper was lying when they said they were the no.1 brand in the world (or Malaysia, I can't remember!) and they haven't open up their market in US or US is totally stupid for not having Whisper!!! Argh!!! I'm so angry!! !

This is the only last packet I have! =(
Dya think I can ask my family to ship it to me?

Why didn't anyone tell me this? I already brought like half a dozen of Darlie here! I didn't know I had to bring sanitary pads too!!! Argh.. Now I have to go out there and try some other brands! Argh!!! I hate this. You guys may think that it is all the same and all but IT IS NOT!!! >.<

Damn those marketing people! =(

You girls wanna introduce me to some new brand? Or maybe there's Whisper here too! Anybody?

Ok.. I have to start on my essay now!!! Stop procrastinating Princess Shin!!! Argh!!!

Till then.. Adios!

My New Laptop!!!

Hey guys! Sorry for not posting ya! Goodness I didn't know that studying in a university would take so much work!!! Argh.. So tiring I tell you! Maybe mainly coz I have been spending most of my days holiday-ing with my family. Only went for serious shopping today! And I have to check in tomorrow!!! Argh!!!

Help!!! Any advice people? What should I get? Is carpet important? My room is dark gray. Kinda like old castle kind of look. How do I decorate it and make it more bright and colourful? How do I add stuff on the wall without knocking on the walls?

Help!!! My family is leaving in a few days time! What am I gonna do without them? I'm gonna miss them so much!!! Argh!!! I have never been away from my family for more than 2 weeks! Argh! I'll be 18 hours away from my family!!! By Plane excuse me!!!

How do I pay for my own bills? What do I do when I'm alone during the weekends? What if I miss everyone?

God..! SOrry if I complained to much! Oh dear.. =( I always tend to stray away from my title! Bad bad me! Hehe..

Anyway, the uni that I'm attending will be giving me a laptop! I havent gotten it yet. I think I'll get it by this Thursday! I have no idea what model it is though. I have the model number. So clever me went and google it up. My new laptop will be HP nc6320 and these are the details of it!

Choosing the Right Network!!! How?

I'm seriously very lucky to have my family come with me to California. There are just so many things for me to do. To start a new life in a totally new place is really not an easy task! Seriously..

And pampered as I am. Never paid a single bill in my life.. How am I gonna survive this? I'm not bragging or anything but boohoo.. I'm spoiled! And I wont be spoiled for long now..

I don't even wanna think about it. Parting with Cody was already hard enough.. but having my family leave me in another 1 and a half week's time is even harder than I thought. Now I'm really gonna be alone.

Ah.. I have been looking forward for this opportunity for so long and now that's it here.. I'm so lost! Booohooo..

Ok... enuf of self-pitying. It'll get me no where. As I was saying. There are just so many things to do. Buy bed sheets, note books, furnitures.. this that. And I havent started on any of that yet. But one thing that I love is they have so many hypermarkets here for me to choose from! Goodness gracious me.. I can just go crazy here!

They have Target, Wallmart, Macy.. Just to name a few since I have only been here for like 2 days.. I havent been to Wallmart yet though. Couldn't find the place. Everything is just so great! You can find anything here. Except of course chilli which I'm totally craving for..

My precious cilli padi! Ahh...

Anyway.. ( I always don't write according to my post's title!) as I was saying, one of the main things was to get me a phone and of course a line so that Cody can start calling me soon! It cost like RM6 (USD 1.50) a minute to call back. So my family and I went around looking for suitable call plans.

Boy was it hard. I later found out that they are like 4 main networks over in US. At&t, Verizon, T Mobile and another one which I have forgotten. And each and everyone of them has their own different plan. Some requires you to pay when you receive and send messages. I mean I understand if you need to pay when you send a message but to receive it? Got such thing? What about those people that loves to send rubbish messages? Do I need to pay for it too? So silly I tell you.. And some even requires you to pay when you receive calls!!!

So what do you think? Any ideas on which network is better?

I'm off to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah!

Yup!!! Off I go again! All this flying around in aeroplanes is kinda making me feel all tired! I'm not complaining or anything. I know there's a lot of people out there that hasn't been on an aeroplane at all but.. sigh.. just thinking about packing, going to the airport, waiting to board the plane, siting down in the small tineey winney seat, feeling the air pressure blowing your ears out, and waiting for the plane to land..

Well.. kinda turns me off flying!!! >.<

I'm sorry if I sounded like an unappreciative b*tch but.. boohoo..

If you're wondering though.. I'm going there because my cousin is getting married soon! Yup! And it's gonna be a huge elaborate affair. With church wedding and all. Haven't been to a church wedding though. Should be super romantic! Can't wait.

And all my favourite KK food!!! Ooooh.. My last time though. =(

On another note, today is the 5th of July. That just gives me another 24 days in Malaysia. Then I'll be off to the States to start a whole new chapter in my life. I dunno whether I should feel excited or sad!

Excited because.. well.. I'm gonna start a whole new life! A totally different experience. I'll meet new people.. experience different culture.. learn new things.. Didn't I always dream of going overseas? Now my dream is coming true.. Right?

But but but.. what if I cannot take it? What if I get so lonely and lost and hide myself in my room and cry every single day? What if I miss my family and Cody too much until I can't do any other things?

What if I miss Malaysian food so much until my stomach wont accept other food at all? (I personally think this is kinda fake though!)

What if I fail all my subject because I couldn't adapt to the environment there? And be kick out of the university?

There are so many what ifs.. Argh..

And the worst thing is.. I haven't started packing AT ALL!!! I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO BRING AT ALL!!!

Oh dear.. so confuse now.. Princess Shin is a confuse girl now!!! Boohooo..

Any advice my dear lovely imaginary readers?

Choosing the Right University

What is the reason ppl choose universities? What is the reason ppl choose to get into universities? What are the factors in choosing the right university for urself?

Is choosing the right university just based on financial needs, distance from home, or whether ur girlfriend or boyfriend is going to be there?

Or is it based on the philosophy of the university? The founder of the university. What the university can offer.

What about the lecturers? Campus life? Does all this take into account too?

Or is it the most important thing is wat U can offer to the university?

What if u wanna get into universities like Harvard, Yale or Princeton. What is the reason u wanna get there? Is it just mainly because it is prestigious and can guarantees good career for ur future?

How do ppl choose the right university? How do YOU choose ur university?

I need some answers!!!
