Wanna feed the poor children of Africa?

This is not a sponsored post. I found this website and its surprisingly interesting. For many people, students especially, vocabulary is one of the hardest in the English language. Especially when you start attending college, thesaurus.com is a life-safer. But that's if you have the internet when you write you papers, what about when you sit for those pain in the a** SAT or GRE exams?

Argh...

They can make you feel so inadequate about your mother-tongue! So sad I tell you!!!

This website can help you improve your vocabulary! Its like those reader's digest vocab quiz! Though I barely know half the words there! So sad I tell you!

But the best part is, every time you answer one question, you'll provide 20 grains of rice through United Nations to end world hunger!!!

Killing two birds with one stone!!!

Just don't get addicted to it! Go study!

Muslim Barbie!

Hey Guys!!! I know Raya is long past but I would really wanna wish all my Muslim readers Selamat Hari Raya!!! =)

This is the first time I'm experiencing Raya away from home and I don't like it at all! =( Apart from ONE student who is a Muslim on campus, I have no other connection to the Muslim world and I miss it!!! Argh.. I miss the days where I can attend the street market which sells tons of Malay food during the Puasa month!!! Oh.. those things are the best! I love my fried mee hoon, donut, curry, rendang.. I so have to stop talking about food!!! Ooooh.. you just don't know how to appreciate stuff until you don't have it anymore! Boohooo..

I'm sounding like a old lady!!!

I almost missed Raya myself if it weren't for the ONLY Muslim guy because he wore his traditional outfit on Raya day itself. Kinda like me when I wore my baju kurung during National Day! Hehe.. must have stole the idea from me! But yeah.. Raya is such a big thing in Malaysia and you'll definitely feel the sense of celebration everywhere you go even if you're not a Malay. But over here.. No one knows anything about it. It is just an ordinary day! It is so funny thinking about it.. how we're may be living on the same planet earth but may live totally different lives. Weird right thinking about it?

Hope you guys received lots of Duit Raya and ate lots of food!!! =)

Just wanna share with you something that I learned in Anthropology class. Maybe some of you know this already but remember the Barbie dolls that we used to play when we were kids? The girls I mean though my younger brother actually played Barbie doll with me when he was a kid. Shh.. Don't tell anyone! Anyway.. remember how the Barbie was always white? It was never any other race other than white? Well.. now there's a Muslim Barbie introduced in the Middle East countries. Fulla Barbie!!! And guess what! She not only wears the 'tudung' (hijab), she also has a matching prayer mat and her black outer layer cloth to cover her whole body when she walks out of the house. You can buy different clothes for her to wear if she's home.

They even have Doctor Fulla and Teacher Fulla to encourage young girls because these 2 are considered respected careers.

Fulla is getting very popular in the Middle East countries because of the values she supposedly portrays. She is supposed to be a girl that is honest, loving and is respectful of her parents. That's why parents don't mind buying Fulla to their daughters because it encourages their baby girls to wear the hijab and practice good Muslim values.

For some reason, this looks like a Malaysian Barbie! =)

I personally don't understand a single thing the advertisement is saying but I really find it interesting! Maybe you guys can try and translate it for me!

Interesting right how different culture can be.. Have you ever seen one?

How strong is your Ipod?

Do you love your Ipod? Haha.. Who am I kidding! Of course you do right? But do you have a curious mind? Would you go to this length to check out how strong you little baby Ipod is?

Wahaha... Tell me if you really tried this!

It is quite funny reading thru their article! This group of young guys went and took a series of test on their precious Ipod to see how strong it is.

Help!!!!

Poor poor little Ipod!

It really amazes me how people can go to extra lengths to prove something. This world is just full of weird stuff!!! You think you are weird? There are people 'weirder' than you!

Bonsai Cat

Do you receive weird e-mails from friends? Those e-mails that contain weird images that sometimes if you're lucky will make you laugh or feel in awe with the ability of people to take those pictures.. or make you think twice whether those pictures are real or not.

I don't know whether you received this mail or not but yesterday was the 2nd time I receive the mail on 'bonsai kitten'.

FOR EVERYONE WHO LOVES ANIMALS

A site that we were able to shut last year has returned. We have to try to shut it down again! A Japanese man in New York breeds and sells kittens that are called BONSAI CATS.

That would sound cute, if it weren't kittens that were put in to little bottles after being given a muscle relaxant and then locked up for the rest of their lives!! The cats are fed through a straw and have a small tube for their faeces. The skeleton of the cat will take on the form of the bottle as the kitten grows. The cats never get the opportunity to move.

They are used as original and exclusive souvenirs. These are the latest trends in New York, China, Indonesia and New Zealand .

If you think you can handle it, view http://www.bonsaikitten.com and have a look at the methods being used to put these little kittens into bottles. This petition needs 500 names, so please put your one name on it!!! Copy the text into a new email and put your name on the bottom, then send it to everyone you know. If you notice that there are 500 names on the list, please send it to: anacheca@hotmail.com

Well.. I have to admit that I really felt disgusted with the mail and was angry at how people can actually do this kinda things to animals. And I was curious to know more so as usual, I went and google it up!!!

And guess what I found?

Bonsai Kitten is an internet hoax, which claimed to give instructions on how to grow kittens in bottles as a form of decoration, similar in fashion to a Bonsai tree.

That's what wikipedia said!!!

Haha.. can you imagine it? It seems that a group of very free MIT graduate students that didn't really know what to do with their lives came out with this hoax to play on people's humane feelings! It seems that when people grew to knew about this 'bonsai kitten', animal activists actually went on to complain to animal welfare organizations and set up online petitions to have the website banned!

Some people are so free I tell you!

And to make things even more absurd, this case was actually investigated by the FBI itself! Haha..

Were you fooled?

Too busy to blog?

Oh dear.. I can't believe this. After 5 months of blogging and up until a few days even posted like 8 post a day, I have finally come down to this!

I'm too busy to blog! Oh dear..

I don't know how you guys ever do it. You work and you blog at the same time. And some of you even have families to feed. And have children to care for and spoil! Where you guys find all the time?

I'm an unmarried (coz still young not unwanted) working part time girl and I am having a hard time finding time to actually sit down in front of the computer and blog!

If you notice that I haven't visited your blog recently, ten thousand appologies! Don't angry ya. It's not that I forgot to visit your blog or started to hate your blog.. It's just time is running a bit short for me for the past couple of days.

But do please continue visiting my blog okay?

*showing you my big eyes now*

*and batting my eyelashes at the same time!*

How do you guys do it anyway? I know if I tell you my schedule you guys will sure laugh at me and scorn at me for saying I don't have enough time. But... *soft voice now*

this is me.. =(

Let's see. My work starts at 1:00pm. So I wake up at 11:30am. Yes yes.. I'm a spoil girl. You let anot? Surf the net for a while, check my mail, eat my lunch and I'm off to work.

Work finishes at 9:00 pm, so get back around 9:30pm. Hang around, check mail, watch a bit of tv, then it's 1:00 am. Time to go to bed.

Then the vicious cycle begins again. Where to find the time to sit down, crack my head for brain juice and blog? What with all the sponsored post and all that, I have no time for other things. And I feel so bad about it. I hope you guys don't mind. I know some of you hate reading sponsored post and you may feel that my blog is slowly turning into some big advertising board where earning money is my top priority that I have jeopardize the quality of my blog.

Do you feel this way? Be truthful now. =(

I'm a strong girl. I can take it.

Money is important to me. It's true that I want to earn as much as I can before I start my uni in the States but what you think is kinda important too. Not as important as feeding my 3 meals in US but still kinda important.

So I'll try my best to post more quality post okay? And not feed you with advertising stuff. And you promise to come back for more okay? Hehehe!!!

Wahaha... Love you guys!

Are you an Honest Person?

Sigh.. sometimes I think I'm too good for my own good. Too honest and too nice. A goody two shoes girl. And this is not to my advantage. Sometimes I feel as though the one loosing out is me. BIG TIME!

I'm currently looking for a job now and everywhere I go people will definitely ask me how long I can work. And I have just recently found out that even if you're gonna work for just 2 or 3 months, don't tell people that. Tell people that you can actually work forever! Don't tell them that you're on a holiday or something. That's wat my dad told me when I ask him whether I should be honest about me leaving to US soon? He was like,

'Do you want the job or not?'

Don't tell them if you want the job. That's life. And people do that all the time.

Ok.. maybe in the real world it is like that. You tell people lies so that you can get the job. And when you had have enough, you quit. Maybe I'm still innocent and naive. Thinking that honesty is the best policy. But seriously?

We're talking about real jobs here. Not those part time clothing store kind of jobs.

I have 4 more months before I head to the States to study and I am totally bored staying at home doing nothing. Yes.. Blogging is something but I can't do that the whole day. Kinda ran out of ideas to write.

Anyway, I was applying for this position in this company. Actually it was just a coincidence that I found out they had a vacancy. I went there to ask about something, and just casually ask them whether they had any vacancies. And the girl in the reception said yes. And ask me to take a test and the next minute I know, she was calling me in for an interview.

So off I went for my first interview. Boy was it scary. Before I went in I mean. I spent like the whole day yesterday asking my dad for help in writing a resume. Goodness. It's not an easy thing to do. I dunno how you guys do it.

Anyway, the person that interviewed me kinda looked scary. She looked like those totally outspoken super successful career woman that will speak what's on her mind immediately and I was horrified. But suprisingly, once I got into the room and started chatting with her, it went out quite nice. Very good in fact. She told me that she's looking for someone that can work for more than one year. Because she don't wanna train that person and have him/her walk out after 3 months. And its a Marketing position. I will have to deal with potential clients and stuff.

Imagine me doing that! I dunno about you. But I kinda feel that I'm not cut out for it. Given that I'm just a high school graduate. But she seemed genuinely interested in me. And I started feeling so very bad. I know I could only work for the next 3 months or so. And I also knew that I could go on with this job and when that day comes, just walk out and never look back. Taking along all the experience and training I have just received.

But I couldn't do that. That would be totally irresponsible of me. How would they feel if I suddenly walk out and leave them with no one. That would be terrible right?

So I finally told her that I am actually looking for a short term job. And I can't work that long for them. She was perfectly nice about it. And off I went.

I could have worked for the next 3 months, get a feel on what marketing is like since I have no idea what it is, feel how its like working in a real office environment and meeting different people every time, and quit after 3 months.

AHHHHHHHHHH....... I'M SO STUPID!!!

No job. Just an honest person. But no job!

What would you do?

Telemarketing, What do you think?

Ok guys. I need your opinion in this. I have worked for telemarketing jobs before. You know those kind where a telemarketer calls you with his/her high chirpy voice and sells you a product?

What do you think of them?

I agree some maybe really pursuasive and wouldn't hang up the phone unless you slam down personally but not everyone is like that. And I do agree that some telemarketers are selling products which are totally fake or telling you again and again that you have just won like $10000 ringgit. And ask you to come over to the office and collect the prize but in actual fact its a scam to get you to buy something?

Yes.. I know they can be rather annoying esp if you are having something on or you're busy but what if that product is really interesting and beneficial to you?

And what if he or she is not calling to sell a product, he/she calls you because you're some CEO or General Manager of the company and would like to invite you to attend a seminar which was organized by maybe Microsoft, or say IBM. And you can actually learn something from it. And you get free breakfast, lunch and tea. And maybe some goodie bag too. Would you be interested to attend? How do you feel when these people call you when you're working?

What about if somebody calls you and ask you to attend a forum or some discussion thing to discuss on your area of expertise and PAY you money to attend. Would you be interested to attend? Or would you say no RIGHT after the telemarketer finish reading his/her script immediately?

NO!!!

What would you do? These people need opinions on some products or some service and they need your help to tell them what you think. And they value you because they know you're in the field and have experience in that product or service. And they even pay you for it. Would you be interested?

Some people are just plain rude I tell you. From my experience in during these jobs, I had some really nasty people that immediately give you a big NO without giving you a chance to speak!!! What if you were in my shoes? I have a whole list to call and I have target to fill. And day in day out I get multiple rejections for whatever reasons.

So if you receive some telemarketers' call, and you're really not interested, just say a kind no. And try to feel bad about it. You are rejecting people right? So say it kindly la.

If not pain pain you know. Let people reject again and again.

That's why I don't like telemarketers job. Other than facing the phone all day long which is so monotonous, you have to deal with people that couldn't care less what you're feeling is.

But its not that terrible. There are some people that are super nice. They joke with you and actually try and be nice to you. These people are really hard to find but they do exist. And even if they do reject you, it doesn't really matter coz they just made your day.

So do be nice to telemarketers okay? They maybe your friend's kids, your niece or nephews, or even me! =)

What do you think it is?

Is this a frog?

Wait for a while. What do you see now?

A horse!

Moral:

We have to respect each other's opinion;
We just need to wait and listen actively to other's point of view!
Don't just jump to conclusion!

Have a nice day!

Happy Belated Valentines!

I know this is a bit late but Happy Valentine's Day! I had a fairly interesting night. Went to Malacca to spent time with my boyfriend and ended up going over to his university and watch him shoot a video commercial for club's project.

Not complaining.

Do you think Calvin ever liked Susie?

Were you ever this mischievous ?

Were you a terrible child to your parents? Did you ever give them a hard time?

I know my dad always complained that I was the toughest little baby to look after. I got up every night since the day I was born to about a year and a half old. I would get up in the middle of the night and not want to sleep back and my poor parents would have to take turns persuading me to sleep.

My poor parents. I hope my children don't give me a hard time in the future.

Did you do anything terrible just to irritate your parents?

Blogging Anonymously

I need to ask you guys opinions, wat do you think about blogging anonymously?

Do you blog anonymously?

Or do you splatter on your whole blog every details of your life? And not to mention those cam-whoring photos?

I'm not saying its wrong but what do you guys think?

Somehow I feel that those blogs that put up photos of themselves doing everyday stuff are more popular. Especially those that include pretty gals. Obviously right? But seriously.. some are juz doing nothing. They post tens and thousands of pictures of themselves with facial expressions that don't really defer much from the previous wan and their readers love it.

Then they complain they get too much attention. Ironical.

What do you call those blogs? Bimbo blogs. Haha..

Again.. I'm not saying their wrong. But would my blog be more interesting if my blog became a bimbo blog?

Wanna know how I look like?

Curious?

Or you juz couldn't care less?

Though I know I have met some really nice bloggers that aren't afraid to post pictures of themselves and their families. And I love it. I somehow feel connected to them. I wanna be able to do that too but...

It wouldn't be fair right? I can see them but they can't see me.

The reason I set up this blog wasn't about catching up with old friends or stuff lidat, its the direct opposite. None of my friends know about this blog of mine. That's because this blog is another side of me that is rarely known by my friends. My thoughts, my feelings. Its another side of me and I don't really feel that I'm ready to share with people. Even though I don't tell ppl about this blog of mine, they will stumble onto my blog someday. This world is already small, wat more with the Internet.

Hence the anonymousness.

But on the other hand, I would love to share with you guys, blogger friends that I have made this past few months, the personal side of me. My photos, including those cam-whoring ones.

What about does that don't blog anonymously. Do you regret ur decision? Or do you love the attention! I wanna know!

So what do you think?

Wanna see my cam-whoring pictures?

Or not?

No perverts please. Thanks.

Monsters Under the Bed

Were you ever scared of monsters? Or being in the dark?

I still am... Are you? =)
