Oh goodness.. I'm exhausted now! Truly truly exhausted. Both my hands have totally no more energy in them. With all the squeezing and wrinkling.. ARGH.. No more strength!!! =(
I feel like an old person having Parkinson disease. My fingers are shivering as I speak!!! Who knew that washing clothes was such hard work!!!
My parents are away for the weekend so I'm in-charge of looking after the house. I have a washing machine in my home but the washing machine is not for me to touch!!! My mum has specifically mention again and again that I cannot and will not ever lay a finger on her precious washing machine!!!
And.. I don't really know how to work it either.
So I decided to wash my own clothes myself. I mean, how hard could it be? Just sprinkle some soap powder into the pail, put my clothes inside, let it soak a while, brush it a bit, take it out, wrinkle it dry and I'm done! Right?
Argh.. not so easy as that! First, after soaking the clothes I realized that after taking them out, they have this slippery feeling in them. The soap is still there! So I had to take them out, put them in a new pail of water and repeat the step a few times. And the clothes that I have are super huge! I just bought this super long skirt and boy was it hard to wrinkle it dry!!! Argh..
Note to self : Next time when I buy clothes, make sure it is as light and small as possible.
And while I was doing all these, I was sitting on the toilet seat. And I had to bend way down to wash my clothes. I tried standing up for a while too.. And the result, terrible back ache now!!! And I'm a young girl excuse me! How do people actually do it?
Oh goodness.. I know I sound like a spoil brat but oh boy.. I have a whole new respect for Cinderella now!
Washing clothes is touch work!!! =(

Hey, did you ever tried washing jeans with hand?
Woah... it really kills.
well I still washing clothes with hand from time to time.
I heard those who live in cold countries only washed their jeans once in six months..keke!U should consider going there to live..keke!
i've been hand washing my clothes for my whole 2 years in uni.. worship me! :p
**pass some hand lotion to protect the hands from getting rough**
Gosh...that's hurt. Go apply some Counterpain lar. Untreated backache can turn into rheumatism. Imagine having a nail poked into your bones type of pain when it rains. Do something before it's too late.
Now only you know how bad it is for your Mum to do all the washing (even with a washing machine). Soak .. wash.. dry.. iron.. It's tough and it will take up lots of the time too.
I think most of us has taken for granted the small little house chores which we are supposed to do. Well, you do gain more experience and independence now right? :P
LOL! That's hilarious! I can relate!! I used to sit on the covered toilet bowl and do all that washing too, but it's a bad idea. Get a stool (as in, that little small chair, not the excrement) or something.
Did you try washing jeans? I think I now know why most people don't wash their jeans so often. Heheheheh...
p/s: btw, if I were you, by hook or by crook I'd dig out the User's Manual and learn how to operate the washing machine... :p
why didnt you use the washing machine?
my mom used to wash all our clothes with her bare hands until only about 4 years ago... isnt her an incredible woman?
Haha! Washing clothes by hand isn't fun, right? And I think that the Note to self part should be 'Learn to work the washing machine'!
When I went to KL and stayed at my auntie's apartment for a few days, I had to wash my clothes by hand cos there was no washing machine. So, I was scrubbing and wringing my clothes dry for about 5 days. Haha! At least I learnt how to wash by hand cos I always used the washing machine at home. It made me appreciate the presence of a washing machine, which I always took for granted!
if your cant use the washing machine there's always the 'kedai dobi' thing you know.. the place where we sent our dirty clothes, they wash, we pay ... ha..ha..
anyway, regarding "Next time when I buy clothes, make sure it is as light and small as possible." .. post me some pictures .. ha..ha..

It's a good thing I knew how to operate a washing machine when I got married and moved out of my parents house and didn't get a maid.
It's still hard though -- I used to cook dinner and do the laundry at the same time -- I'd go up and down the stairs checking on dinner while the washer was doing it's job. Ugh!
well - when i was young i used to play the fool and wash my own cloth - we only affored a washing machine when i was 10 :( but i know hwo to wash by hand -

menchie,
I thought you can leave the clothes in the machine? I don't like the part where you have to wait for the clothes to dry! Looking after the clothes when it is outside. Worried that it will rain any minute! Terrible! haha..
sasi a.k.a saz,
haha.. play a fool and wash your own clothes? Did you have fun? =)
Let the water run? Wah.. so wasting water? I found a way to use my feet to step on my clothes! Haha..saw it on a korean show! =)
