As a student.. I guess you can survive without having a printer at home. Right? I mean since most schools have printers on campus. Whether it is in the library or the IT lab, you are bound to find a printer somewhere. The difference is merely if you need to pay for the printing job or not. My undergraduate used to allow us to print for free. It was super cool! Though of course the students took advantage of it and couldn't care less if they printed wrongly or not. Ah miss those days.
