One day a hose was sitting quietly in a big Home Depot store minding his own business and observing the slow buzz of the store when a young boy of 12 came up to him and asked his dad if this was the particular hose they needed for their house. This particular braided stainless steel hose had been sitting around for close to four months now, hoping to be bought by someone and having its hopes lifted so many times whenever someone picked him up. But by now, even though a tiny part of him wanted this to be "the one time he would be taken home," he tried to tell himself to not get too hopeful for fear of being disappointed.
