Playing Sims is actually the perfect way to play up one's creativity and design your own dream house. I know people always think that its just a stupid computer game and my mum never understands it when I spent hours and hours on that game but seriously.. you can learn a lot from that game! =)
You can design your own house, build it literally from the base, decide how many rooms you want, design your own wallpapers, carpeting, even decide what kind of furniture you want in your house. From having a naughty love bed, to plasma tv mounts, to hot tubs.. everything!
Well.. if you can't have the real thing, the other best way is through the visual imagination right?
