Multitasking!

One thing about having a wired campus is that you can bring your laptop everywhere and be able to online anytime and anywhere you want. One downside is that because you can bring your laptop everywhere, you bring it to class to. What was intended as a tool for you to write down notes effectively is now used as a tool to overcome boredom.

Professors that don't possessed the skill to keep their students entertained will find that their students are checking their emails, facebooking, or playing Yahoo games while "listening" to the professor. Basically, what is needed is that a few looks at the professor, some eye contact and face nodding, a little typing here and there and you're all set to pretend listening in class while skyping your boyfriend across the world.

Wahahaha.. too bad the time difference in Malaysia doesn't allow me to do that.

There's nothing much the professor can do other than forbid students to bring laptop to class. But you can't do that in this modern age and time. Keylogger can be a good preventive measure. But that's only if you're using a desktop.

I guess professors just have to work hard to make sure that they can keep their students' attention and not lose it to facebook.
