Although Malaysia is definitely a shopper's paradise, especially with the Mega Sale going on right now, Ho Chi Minh is not losing in it either.
Although I'm an impulsive shopper, I'm kinda choosy when it comes to shopping. I don't really like fake branded stuff. I don't really know the reason but I feel why should I parade in some expensive brand, showing everyone that I'm using some expensive branded clothes but in actual fact its totally fake.
Don't really like doing that.
But shopping in Saigon Square has totally change my perspective of that!!! You know why?
Because the stuff there, although 80% cheaper than what is sold overseas, are absolutely real!!!
I didn't really take that much pictures of this place. Mainly because I was busy shopping.
I'm so sorry!
Saigon Square mainly sells clothes. Lots and lots of clothes. And the interesting part is that they have all kinds of brands there! From Abercombie & Fitch, Forever 21, Guess, Gap, Armani.. Everything. And you know what's the best part? I have a feeling that all these are real stuff, not fakes like those in PetalingStreet in Malaysia or in China.
You know why?
Because if you look closely, they have everything there from the price tags with USD on it to their brand tags to their washing directions! Bearing in mind that there are a lot of factories in Vietnam. There are also a few with their labels cut. Those with labels cut are normally cheaper than those that aren't. I don't really know how this works but its kinda like shopping in Factory Outlet shops. They're all branded stuff but some how its cheaper than those sold in boutiques.
Its the same here too. The difference is just they have much much much more different brands and their clothes are pretty much the latest season! Can you imagine getting a Guess black dress for USD26? Or an Abercombie and Fitch top for USD 8? Its not that much difference for brands like Forever 21 because clothes there are already cheap but brands like Armani Exchange and Guess are a rip-off!!! Clothes from Forever 21 are almost the same though. Sometimes they will still have their price tags attached and if you look closely, its only about 2-3 dollars difference. And a frequent Forever 21 customer like me knows that they ALWAYS have sale and stuff can get really cheap sometimes!
They even have clothes from Korea and Japan. Those aren't that cheap though. Maybe about USD 10 each plus minus.
One down side though, because everyone only has a small stall, you don't really have any space to try on their clothes. Most of the time they'll either ask you to put it over your clothes or they'll hold a curtain around you while you change.
I guess you can't ask for everything can't you.
They don't really like bargaining much either. The most discount they'll give is about 10000 dongs which is less than USD1! I think they know that their product is good so they don't really care if you don't buy it, other people will buy it if you don't. However, you don't really need to bargain much because its already so cheap!
Beware though. They can be really cold too. They couldn't really be bothered whether you bought their products or not. I don't really know why.
Ahh.. Its gonna feel so weird walking into shops like Guess in US and knowing that its so much cheaper in HCMC and its exactly the same! =.=
